As first reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Washington Redskins will now call themselves the Washington Football Team until they adopt a new nickname in the future.

At this point, no one really knows what the team name or logo will be, however, the team has confirmed that they will be keeping the same colors and jerseys. On the helmets, each player's number will be featured instead of the logo.

From NFL plays to college sports scores, all the top sports news you need to know every day.

The new logo is the word Washington with the "Football Team, EST 1932" beneath it.

Red Wolves and Red Tails are among the betting favorites for the new name.

The move to formally adopt an interim name and branding signals that the process of picking a new moniker will take longer than initially planned. I'm sad seriously. No disrespect to Washington football team but that's a soul crusher not to have a football name'.

While several of the team's key players expressed support on social media for the team's temporary look, others were perplexed. Shortly after majority owner Dan Snyder announced the name change, a bombshell Washington Post report was dropped that detailed several sexual harassment allegations leveled by 15 former female employees against the organization. "Is that real??" James wrote on Twitter.
