United States Steel Corporation (NYSE:X): Changes In Executive Management

Boston, MA, 12/20/2013 (NYSEPOST) – United States Steel Corporation (NYSE:X) announced a number of changes in its executive management. This included naming John J. Quaid, VP Iron Ore. Larry T. Brockway has been appointed the Sr VP, CRO and the treasurer; Sharon K. Owen will retire from the North American Flat-Rolled-Operations.

Effective 1 January 2014 John J. Quaid will take up the role of VP Iron Ore, which is a newly-created position and he will be in charge of all the mining operations. He will report to Douglas R. Matthews, the Sr VP North American Flat-Rolled-Operations.

The 41- year old Quaid, joined United States Steel Corporation (NYSE:X) in 2002 and has moved through various positions in investor relations, business-planning, U.S Steel’s European operations, accounting & finance. He has served as VP and treasurer since 2011 August.  The 54-year old, Larry T. Brockway, currently serves as Sr VP and CRO is now the Sr VP, CRO and treasurer.  Brockway earlier served as the treasurer from 2004 -2011, and he once again will assume this role and added responsibilities for tax as well as the United States Steel Corporation (NYSE:X) and Carnegie Pension Fund.  He will continue with all his current responsibilities for procurement and as the company’s CRO.

The 59-year old Sharon K. Owen, VP, Supply Chain &Customer Service has opted to retire post her 37-year career with United States Steel Corporation (NYSE:X). Owen has held a number of roles in quality assurance, customer-technical services, steel operations as well as automotive and tin-product marketing & sales.  She has been in her present role since 2011.  United States Steel Corporation (NYSE:X) does not plan to name any successor but will allocate her responsibilities internally for business planning, logistics and customer service.
