The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that 3 people are dead, including a child, following a shooting inside a Publix supermarket store in Royal Palm Beach.

The shooting incident occurred at a store at Royal Palm Beach Boulevard 1180 on Royal Palm Beach.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to the shooting just after 11:30 a.m.at the corner of Royal Palm Beach Boulevard and Okeechobee Boulevard at The Crossroads shopping center. Their identities have not been disclosed.

A man, woman and child were killed, and the shooter was among the dead, officials said. We are cooperating with the local law enforcement. "Since this is an active police investigation, we can not confirm any additional details".

Adults and children are unnamed.

Palm Beach County Commissioner Melissa McKinlay said the deceased child was a toddler.

"This was NOT an active shooter situation", the sheriff's office said. The detective is at the scene investigating the trigger for the shooting. All additional questions should be forwarded to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.

Joey Mendoza, 62, told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel that he was pulling into the store's parking lot when he saw the large police presence surrounding the building.
