TRAILER: Zendaya & John David Washington Star In Malcolm & Marie

Here's everything we know about the dramatic quarantine romance film.

Having found a creative partnership to help express her talents, Zendaya has again teamed up with Euphoria creator Sam Levinson and stars in the new Netflix film Malcolm & Marie alongside John David Washington.

"Malcolm and Mary" is the story of a filmmaker Malcolm and his girlfriend Mary, who have just returned home from their film premiere and are awaiting critical response to the film. Cinematographer Marcell Rév also has a history on the show - so if you're fond of vivid and expressive imagery, you'll be able to see what he can do while working in monochrome. Given the fact that the film's director, Sam Levinson, wrote the movie for her, she had some input as to who was cast opposite her. People are going to see in this movie how much of a woman she is. "To just use her as this vessel to get shit out that maybe I had pent up or hadn't said".

Speaking in the latest edition of GQ, the Euphoria star explained that the role was more appealing to her than others offered to her in recent times, because it enabled the star to explore outside of herself. While fans are excited to see the project, particularly since Zendaya's Emmy win, not all press about the film has been positive.

She said: "We never know what people might be going through so it's so important to be kind to everybody, not just those people in life we care about". There's a 12-year difference between Zendaya and Washington, and its a little uncomfortable in how stark it is, even in the trailer.

John David Washington tackles some negative reactions. Movies that unfold as a conversation between two people may not be everyone's cup of tea, of course.

"It's not until you're about to lose someone that you finally pay attention", Marie warns Malcolm, before telling him that she went to his premiere "as a thank you, that is it", implying that their relationship is on the rocks.
