Tiemoue Bakayoko joins Chelsea: First snaps of new signing in Blues shirt

It's said Chelsea will shell out a whopping £40m for Bakayoko, making him their second-most expensive player of all time.

Bakayoko is Chelsea's third summer signing.

Chelsea have finally agreed a £39.8 million deal to sign Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco.

After missing out on Lukaku, Conte's search for a striker to succeed Costa goes on, but he seems to have already identified the midfielder to succeed Matic.

Bakayoko arrived in London on Friday and underwent a medical with Chelsea ahead of his proposed transfer to Stamford Bridge, but the deal is not done yet.

It makes the French global the most expensive midfielder in Chelsea history, surpassing the previous record held by £32m N'Golo Kante. The Blues' have a tough start to their title-defending campaign.

Every transfer carries an element of risk, and Bakayoko's body of work at the elite level is smaller than most.

The midfielder costs a whopping £40million and has been handed the No.14 shirt after penning a five-year deal with the Premier League champs.

Yet history suggests that when Chelsea splash out on a central midfielder, they generally know what they are doing.

And Antonio Conte would have been left fuming if the Special One pipped him to another top target.

He has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United and Juventus.

At age 22, Chelsea are banking on continued improvement from Tiemoue Bakayoko.

Which midfielders would you like to see at United or Chelsea?

After weeks of speculation about the transfer, news that the 22-year-old is Stamford Bridge-bound hardly comes as a surprise - especially not to numerous Manchester United supporters that saw the Mail's tweet about it on Thursday.

A proven Premier League performer, Matic has helped Chelsea to win two Premier League titles since returning to the side from Benfica in January 2014.
