Even though he's no longer part of the show, after having been helicoptered off to god-knows where for his own spin-off trilogy of movies, the spectre of Rick Grimes still looms heavily over The Walking Dead.

Almost a decade after the start of the zombie apocalypse as shown in "The Walking Dead" and "Fear the Walking Dead" comes a third new drama in that universe. Though society seems to have gotten a little more "normal", there's still plenty danger lurking out in the world as a group of teens ventures out into it for themselves.

The Walking Dead season 10 airs new episodes on Sundays at 9 PM ET on AMC.

The trailer introduces us to these young heroes as they go on a mysterious journey into the ruined world beyond their small settlement.

At the accompanying panel, TWD chief content officer Scott Gimple - who also co-created the new series with showrunner Matt Negrete - offered some additional info.

Lauren Cohan will be back for the show's 11th season after departing the series at the same time Andrew Lincoln bid farewell to all this zombie drama. AMC renewed The Walking Dead for an eleventh season only a day before the tenth season premiered.

In addition, it was confirmed that Lauren Cohan will return to the series as Maggie in a series regular in season 11! She was cast in the ABC series Whiskey Cavalier.

"I'm very excited", Marquand said of having Cohan back. It feels so emotional.

"I was really, really happy with the way that [Gurira] leaves the show", Fleming shared. But will this be enough to keep The Walking Dead on top?

During her NYCC announcement - where she appeared in disguise as Negan before taking off a mask and revealing her identity - Cohan simply said she was looking forward to returning to The Walking Dead.
