The Pentagon condemns Fox News' attack on women in the military

On Tuesday, Carlson mocked during his prime-time program saying that while "China's military becomes more masculine. our military needs to become, as Joe Biden says, more feminine".
Chip SomodevillaThe Department of Defense published a post on Thursday rebuking Fox News host Tucker Carlson for mocking women in the USA military, noting that Pentagon Press Secretary John F. Kirby "smites" the "talk show host" for dissing the military's diversity."What we absolutely won't do is take personnel advice from a talk show host or the Chinese military", Kirby, a former CNN contributor, said in a news briefing on Thursday.
He also called out her hypocrisy of claiming to be a silenced victim while doing an interview with Oprah Winfrey, which has so far been watched by 50 million people.
The controversy reignited calls among some service members to ban Fox News from military installations because of its significant amount of partisan commentary. Condemning the sexist attack, Pentagon on Thursday said it was proud of the military's diversity and said it needed to do a better job of promoting women to senior ranks.
Other senior officials responded after female service members circulated videos of Carlson's statements with their own commentary.
Gen. Paul E. Funk II, commander of the Army Training and Doctrine Command, praised the "thousands of women (who) serve honorably every day around the globe".
At least three generals also responded to Carlson's comments, calling them ill-informed and wrong-footed. "They will dominate ANY future battlefield we're called to fight on", Sgt. Maj. of the Army Michael Grinston said on Twitter on Thursday, adding that Carlson's comments hours earlier were divisive and "don't reflect Army values".
But they all know that there's much, much more work to be done to ensure that women's leadership is recognized and we have more diverse leaders; we reach the top echelons of command for all who are qualified, including all women - all women; and that all women feel safe and respected in our military - period.

Richardson IV added on Thursday morning: "Mothers in uniform fight & win our nation's wars". Fathers in uniform fight & win our nation's wars.
The president said in his nationwide address that if people get their vaccines when they are available that "there's a good chance you, your families and friends, will be able to get together in your backyard or your neighbourhood and have a cookout".

Carlson regularly makes incendiary comments on his primetime show.
