Super Bowl MVP Julian Edelman arrested over alleged vandalism in Beverly Hills

Saturday, Julian Edelman, Patriots' wide receiver and former Super Bowl MVP, was arrested for misdemeanor vandalism, according to TMZ.

The 33-year-old Edelman reportedly was walking in the area around 9 p.m. when he chose to jump on the vehicle.

Edelman was later released, and has an April 13 court date.

On Saturday night former Boston Celtics star Paul Pierce posted a picture to Instagram of himself on an apparent night out in Beverly Hills with Edelman and former Patriots receiver Danny Amendola. Julian was in Bev Hills walking around at about 9 PM when for some unknown reason he hopped up on the auto, causing damage.

Pierce also commented on that photo, saying it was taken minutes before Edelman's arrest and joking that the wideout's street cred is "through the roof now".

According to the police, Edelman was drinking, which can help explain why the situation might have happened.

The incident occurred just two days after Edelman was named the Ed Block Courage Award recipient by the Patriots. The Los Angeles County District Attorney will now decide whether or not to proceed with charges, though it seems like the type of case Edelman could easily settle by writing a check to the owner of the vehicle.
