Star Wars: Squadrons trailer, release date, gameplay and more
Jun 18 2020
Upon release, the video game will be accessible for owners of X-Box One, PlayStation 4, and PC. For those that want some exclusive in-game gear and items, snapping up a copy of the game ahead of its October release will be of utmost importance. The game was developed by Motive Studios. They will also be able to be a part of massive fleet battles. The game boasts "first-person multiplayer space dogfights alongside your squadron" as well as a standalone single-player story (probably focusing on the female Rebel pilot and her Empire adversary).
The world gameplay premiere of Squadrons will happen this Thursday, June 18 at EA Play LIVE.
"While besides artwork for a TIE Fighter @EAStarWars tweeted: "'You are the Empire's Strength.' Be among the first to see the #StarWarsSquadrons reveal trailer".
This looks really promising; Star Wars fans have been wanting a spiritual successor to the X-Wing series for years. In the game, players can fly through the universe in starfighters.
After initially leaking as Star Wars: Project Maverick, EA has now officially unveiled Star Wars: Squadrons. "Squadron", the game will focus on dogfights in spaceships. "Five pilots, one squadron", they say, emphasizing Squadrons' team-based structure. This will be done by beating opponents and also completing other objectives. Squadrons will feature familiar locations and brand new ones, including Yavin Prime and the moon of Galitan. If it was the petri dish for what EA had planned for Squadrons, then I'm ready to finally chuck my boxed copy of Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter into the bin and move on forward into the future. The game is also reportedly VR accessible.
Although there are cosmetics and gameplay modifiers - such as weapons, hulls, engines and shields - EA said you'll be able to earn all of these through gameplay alone.
