Southern player suffers spinal injury

Devon Gales, a wide receiver at Southern University, left Saturday's game against Georgia after a head-to-head collision, resulting in a spinal injury.

Sophomore receiver Devon Gales was injured during the second half on a kickoff return.

Gales was taken to Athens Regional hospital, where he underwent a Connecticut scan and will remain until further notice, according to a statement released by the school.

Southern confirmed 90 minutes after the game that Gales was diagnosed with a spinal cord injury and requested "continued prayers".

"I hope the guy is all right", Morgan said.

Gales, 5-9 and 158 pounds, is a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Georgia running back Nick Chubb ran for 131 yards on 15 carries, his 12th-straight game with over 100 yards rushing.
