SEC to play 10-game, conference-only schedule beginning September 26

All ACC-member schools will face league opponents nearly exclusively in the 2020 football season due to COVID-19. The Canes will travel to Clemson, Louisville, North Carolina State, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest. The SEC title game was moved from December 5 to December 19, and it will still be held at Mercedez-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

"But we're all dealing with the same set of circumstances in a sense".

Although the Miami Hurricanes now have their opponents without specific game dates, as announced Wednesday by the ACC , the most significant roadblock for all NCAA teams remains the coronavirus pandemic.

"We must resist complacency, " Frenk said this week in a UM-produced video.

"We are aware of the scheduling decisions announced today by the Southeastern Conference", EMU athletic director Scott Wetherbee said in a statement. Our institutions are committed to taking the necessary measures to facilitate the return in a safe and responsible manner. "That's the max. If we need to go to an eight-plus-one, we can".

In a normal year, the 14 football conference members are divided into the Atlantic and Coastal divisions, with the division champs meeting in the conference title game to earn an automatic bid to a major bowl game. The ACC revealed its schedule, which includes adding Notre Dame as a member.

If the game ends up getting canceled amid the COVID-19 pandemic, it's unlikely Notre Dame will be on the hook for that money due to two stipulations in the cancellation clause of the contract between the Irish and the Broncos.

The Hurricanes had been scheduled to open the season against the Temple Owls at Hard Rock Stadium on Sept. 5, with other non-league contests scheduled for Sept. 12 against Wagner at home, Sept. 17 against Alabama-Birmingham and Sept. 26 at Michigan State. The SEC, however, followed the lead of the Pac-12 and Big Ten in shifting to a conference-only schedule this year. The September 26th start is four weeks late.

Obviously, this gives every school in the league five home games and five away games.

As to how many fans will be allowed to attend games hasn't been determined, but after the University of Texas announced it planned to allow 50,000 to attend games Austin health officials intervened.

For the first time in 96 years, Georgia and Georgia Tech will not face each other in football, assuming there is a 2020 season. Hard Rock did this by committing to a number of operational reforms including "cleaning, disinfection, and infection prevention strategies". This recognition could be a deciding factor when it comes to fans in the stands at UM's ACC games. "By following a credible third-party standard, we are confident that our facility not only meets, but exceeds, the expectations of our spectators and staff".
