"We plan announcing late next week the full regular season schedule that begins with Kickoff on September 10 and culminates with the Super Bowl in Tampa February 7, 2021", National Football League spokesman Brian McCarthy said in an email to Reuters.

While the NFL still has significant hurdles to clear before it can be known its season will commence, college football has more issues to navigate.

The league already plays certain games on Saturdays - but only after college football's regular season concludes. It could have a triple-header with games at 1 p.m., 4:30 and 8, or just have one Saturday game of the week.

The NBA suspended their 2019-20 season back in March and the NFL Draft went virtual this year.

There was a report that the NFL is looking to push its in-division matchups toward the latter portion of the schedule, allowing the league to eliminate earlier games, if necessary. The NFL is considering playing at empty stadiums or neutral sites with no bye weeks, the AP reported.
