Sabrina Ionescu Signs Endorsement Deal With Nike

So when the Liberty selected Sabrina Ionescu out of OR with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 WNBA Draft - which was done virtually - it was also a big deal for all of those who call Barclays Center home.

The league held its common convention name with the groups earlier than the ESPN broadcast began to remove any likelihood of a choose not being in on time. Ionescu's jersey sold out within a day and with each subsequent restocking. The 5ft 11in point guard was expected to dominate this year's NCAA women's basketball tournament before it was called off due to the ongoing health crisis.

Ionescu wore Nike during her career at OR and had a close relationship with Kobe Bryant before his passing earlier this year. Now the 22-year-old is poised to become not only the new face of women's basketball but a leading light within women's sports in the United States.

No wonder Nike signed the all-time leader in college triple-doubles to an exclusive endorsement deal.

"Excited to take the next step and join the Nike family!"

"I've been going between Nike, Under Armour and Puma".

Ionescu, who was selected on March 17 by the New York Liberty, was named Naismith Player of the Year and AP Player of the Year during her last year at the University of Oregon. She already has an impressive social media presence with over 82,000 Twitter followers and 359,000 Instagram followers.

"I think it was a very attractive thing the WNBA did to be able to draft those three girls", Ionescu stated.
