Rishabh Pant most likely to replace injured Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan- the man for India in ICC events

Earlier on Tuesday, the Indian team was jolted with a massive blow as Shikhar Dhawan has been all but ruled out of the 2019 edition of the World Cup in England and Wales.

Quoting sources, a report by The Times of India said that once all the details on Dhawan's injury will be available, an official request for a replacement will be put out by the team management and that replacement is going to be Pant. While others took it as an opportunity to ask BCCI to call-up Rishabh Pant or Shreyas Iyer to the Indian team.

However, with the team management still assessing his medical report and scan reports, a final world on Dhawan may emerge later in the day.

The 33-year-old is expected to miss India's next two matches due to a suspected hairline fracture to his left-thumb. But as soon as Farhart exited the field, Dhawan was wincing in pain again as he took his left hand off the bat handle to work the ball for a run.

Dhawan had helped in India's win over Australia in the World Cup on Sunday.

Dhawan has been ruled for at least three weeks. Consequently, no replacements would be called for now.

Shikhar Dhawan is a key player for India in ICC tournaments where he has 6 hundreds.

".it has to be Rishabh Pant". Dhawan will not be able to play India's upcoming matches against New Zealand, Pakistan and Afghanistan.

KL Rahul to open and Pant at number 4... It is not sure if Team India will bring him in the later parts of the Tournament. But then the only available replacement in India's present squad to fill Rahul's void in the middle is Vijay Shankar, who at the global level has not played too many matches, and none of them higher than No.5 in the batting order.
