The Election star died unexpectedly last month, her family has confirmed to TMZ.

Campbell was working as a neuropathic physician in Vancouver, Washington at the time of her death. She had been feeling congested, but did not suspect Coronavirus. Family members discovered Campbell later that day collapsed on the floor of a bathroom in her home. There were attempts to revive her, but they were, unfortunately, unsuccessful.

The family are awaiting an autopsy from the Multnomah County, Oregon, medical examiner's office. She also took on a role as Amy Andrews on the 2000 comedy series Freaks and Geeks, which has developed a large following and featured a cast that included James Franco, Seth Rogen, Linda Cardellini, Jason Segel, and John Francis Daley. "I'm sending all my love to Jessica's family and loved ones", the 44-year-old actress said.

Following reports of Campbell's death, Witherspoon tweeted that she is "heartbroken" over the news, writing: "So heart broken to hear this".

Our deepest condolences goes out to Jessica Campbell's family and friends during this hard time.

Campbell began her acting career in 1992 with a role in the TV movie In The Best Interest Of The Children, which also starred Sarah Jessica Parker.

She was 38 years old. Eventually, Campbell left the world of acting behind and relocated to OR with her family.

The family also says that Jessica has been cremated and that they are now planning a memorial service.

More than $22,000 has been donated so far, including a $5,000 donation by Freaks and Geeks' executive producer, Judd Apatow. "In addition to the impressive energy she poured into her own life, Jessica, on multiple occasions, dropped everything to travel across state lines and care for her loved ones in need", she wrote.
