Red Wings' Anthony Mantha enters record books with 4-goal night

Tyler Bertuzzi capped a pretty passing play by one-timing a cross ice pass from Dylan Larkin past Nashville Predators goaltender Jussi Sarros for the first goal of the year! The trio is averaging about 21 minutes a game. Nashville just never could get a leg up on the Wings as they were having to come back all night long.

If you live in the United States and you're outside of the Red Wings and Stars markets, you can watch the game live on ESPN+, the digital streaming service from ESPN that has coverage of several out-of-market National Hockey League games every week, plus dozens of other live sports, all the 30-for-30 documentaries and other original content for $4.99 per month. The Predators scored 236 total goals last season, 33 on power plays and eight shorthanded. "Just putting myself in the right spot".

The former 1st-round draft pick in 2013 was touted as a big, strong forward who was lighting up the Quebec junior league.

Nashville outshot the Red Wings 42-28.

Ryan Johansen found Duchene on the goal line, and Nashville's newest centerman dished a brilliant backhand feed to Arvidsson who deposited a shot past Jimmy Howard to give the Preds life. That's exactly what Mantha did on one of his four goals against Dallas.

Mantha receives the puck, cuts outside and breezes past Stars defenceman Esa Lindell. Of those nine goals, Mantha has been directly responsible for five of them.

"Not good enough", Preds winger Filip Forsberg said of his club's performance.

The Red Wings have been a surprise so far, but they will need Mantha, Larkin, and Bertuzzi to continue to dominate to have a chance at the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

"He's worked extremely hard at becoming a better goal scorer", Detroit coach Jeff Blashill said of Glendening.

Mantha is a man playing against men now. It helps to have a determined Larkin at center and the ever-aggressive Bertuzzi on the other wing, but alone Mantha has proved he is a force to reckon with. What that means for the Red Wings is uncertain, but at least there will be goals.

Mantha is coming off two consecutive 20-goal plus seasons and perhaps grander heights are in store for the 2013 first-round pick.
