The 90-year-old Hefner's health is said to be troubling those closest to him.

On Twitter Friday evening Hefner shared a photo with wife Crystal, before they enjoyed their weekly movie night. "I might have cancelled my weekend plans", he joked.

"Tonight's Mansion movie is the classic western, Shane", wrote Hef as a caption.

It was also reported police officers had gone to his home after hearing the death scare rumours, but Los Angeles Police Department Officer Mike Lopez disputed this, telling NBC, "This obviously did not happen".

'Apparently my Dad is "super sick".

"'He looks like he is down to around 90pounds and super sick".

A source told the New York Post Hefner is "down to around 90 pounds" and "his people are really trying to keep this under wraps". Friends are fearing for his health as his weight plummets, and a source says that he hasn't been out in public in months!

However a representative for Hefner maintains he is fine, adding back problems in recent years "have made it a bit more challenging for him to get around'".

Rumors are swirling that Hugh Hefner may be ill, due to word that those who visit the Playboy Mansion must sign a confidentiality agreement to see him. He was photographed in August at his "Midsummer Night's Dream" bash, looking noticeably frail, and was reportedly not at the party, which was hosted by his son Cooper Hefner instead.

Hefner is married to Crystal Harris, a 30-year-old British-American model.

But her husband, whom she Wednesday in 2012, did not appear in any of the pictures - in which her captions described Paris as the "city of love" and "romantic".
