Place Ravens flourish at expense of winless Browns

A day after the Browns' 28-7 loss to the Ravens - a game that featured Jackson curiously benching Cody Kessler for Josh McCown - Jackson revealed that the Browns' ownership and front office are still incredibly supportive of him.

"I think the biggest thing today was we were able to get the ball to Mike and Breshad underneath on some guys and just let them do the work", said Flacco, who finished 30-for-41 passing for 296 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions.

It should be mentioned the Browns are not built to win right now.

Still, the Ravens know a loss to Cleveland would be a severe blow to their reputation.

The Ravens 2016 season has spiked up and down like an abnormal EKG to this point as head coach John Harbaugh's club has taken a odd path to the top of the AFC North with three consecutive wins to start the season, followed by four straight setbacks before rebounding to win division games against Pittsburgh and now the Browns by a comfortable 28-7 margin.

Winless teams have found ways to win late as desperation sets in, of course. That's the reality of it. Add in a near fumbled punt when Joe Haden and Duke Johnson bumped into one another and Browns fans could do one of two things, laugh or cry.

Yet that stat truly illustrates how miserable Cleveland has been since rejoining the National Football League for the 1999 season.

"It gets tougher every week that you don't get a win", veteran tackle Joe Thomas said "Obviously, as those loss totals stack up, it is more hard to be positive". The Browns have never been below.500. The Ravens rallied for a 25-20 win and now own a 26-9 advantage in this lopsided rivalry.

Jackson said after the game that he removed Kessler in favour of Josh McCown because the Browns "needed a spark" and that he "wasn't going to keep watching missed plays".

Despite this, Jackson revealed after the game that Cody Kessler was still his number on quarterback.

Baltimore's next drive, however, was run on a short field.

Jackson wants him to be more of a playmaker. I'll be aghast and astonished and astounded if he's handed the job without serious competition next season - most likely from the draft.

OL Shuffle: Jackson was asked if he will make any changes on the offensive line, considering the Browns are winless with six games to play. You've got to try something different. And the last QB to win a game for them is still named Manziel.

Bad 1st Impression - You don't get a second chance to make a first impression. "This is a division game, a rival".

SECOND THOUGHTS: The Browns' inability to contain the opposition after halftime - a season-long issue - resurfaced again. Like most Cleveland moves over the last 18 years it was disastrous! Erving got into a tussle with Cowboys defensive end David Irving, who punched him before getting his helmet ripped off.

This time there were no unforced errors as Flacco connected with Steve Smith for his second scoring pass of the night. "He is looking forward to playing". Of all the color rush uniforms, those have been among the very best.

Suggs downplayed what he's doing to play through a serious injury and still have major production, but he's certainly caught the attention of his teammates.

"For whatever reason, it hasn't gone the right way for us", he said.
