Peyton Manning will announce retirement after 18 NFL seasons on Monday

You've probably heard. Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning and his Fivehead are retiring.

Manning did, however, miss the entire 2011 season with a neck injury. He responded by leading the Broncos to four straight division championships.

Osweiler, 25, showed promise in eight appearances last season, throwing for 1,967 yards while completing 61.8 percent of his passes with 10 touchdowns against six interceptions. He also threw for a record 5,477 yards that year.

Manning went on to win the second championship of his career. Simply put, he revolutionized NFL football.

Although his teammates said his speech on the eve of the game felt very much like a goodbye, Manning didn't call it his "last rodeo" right away, saying he needed time to reflect. "Nobody worked harder at the game and nobody prepared harder than Peyton", Kubiak said. He retires as the league's career leader in passing yards and touchdowns. He struggled through one of his most trying seasons, when a foot injury (and shaky play) led to his missing seven of the final eight regular-season games.

During Manning's senior year, Tennessee won its only SEC championship in his tenure and he finished as runner-up for the Heisman Trophy behind Charles Woodson, the only primarily defensive player to win the award. "It would be one thing if you were asking me this question if this were the last game of the season and we were 4-11 and this is the last game, 'Hey, what are you gonna do?' Somehow, some way we're playing in the Super Bowl".

Manning is scheduled to address his decision in a news conference Monday. "Peyton was everything that we thought he was and even more-not only for the football team but in the community". He won the elusive second Super Bowl to put an exclamation point on a career that ranks him among the greatest quarterbacks to play the game. Manning was drafted into the National Football League in 1998, as the first overall pick by the Indianapolis Colts, and little did he know, he would spend the next 13 years with them.

Manning denied that he had used anything inappropriate and decried the report as violating his wife's medical privacy.

Knowing his dad would be proud of how Manning wore the number in his beloved orange and blue, Chris said the ending for the second run to No. 18 is also flawless. It is uncertain whether that investigation would continue now that Manning is expected to retire.

Patriots coach Bill Belichick went out of his way to praise Manning's "immense contributions" to the game, while Belichick's quarterback - Tom Brady - was left to mull the absence of one of his fiercest rivals.

A month after Denver's victory over the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50, the almost 40-year-old quarterback has informed Broncos general manager John Elway he's calling it a career.

Dallas Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle, who got to know Manning when he coached the Indiana Pacers during Manning's time with the Colts. That time has come.

"Congratulations Peyton, on an incredible career", Brady wrote on his Facebook page. "He has been inspirational to me as a friend and as a coach, and he has made me a better person".
