Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola has issued a strong response to FC Barcelona amidst their pursuit to lure defender Eric Garcia back to Camp Nou.

Aguero sustained meniscus damage during last month's 5-0 Premier League win over Burnley and was operated on by Guardiola's preferred surgeon, Dr Ramon Cugat. He's a young player and we want him to be consistent, to train and recover.

But City have offered him a new deal at the Etihad and he has impressed Guardiola - earning a place in the first team this season.

"But if it happens like it did against Southampton, Tottenham at home and away and Norwich away, we will be out [of the FA Cup] and Arsenal will be in the final and Madrid will go through [from their Champions League round-of-16 tie]".

"I told you many times no". This is the reality we have to accept'. They made two shots on target and we shot more than 20, and we drew.

Along with drinks breaks, the Premier League allowed teams to make five substitutions in each game to help lower the risk of players suffering injuries in the crowded calendar. I've got Brighton [in the Premier League on Saturday] and continue to prepare for Arsenal [in the semi-finals of the FA Cup].

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) is due to deliver its verdict on July 13 after City lodged an appeal having been found guilty by UEFA of breaching Financial Fair Play rules.

"On Monday, I'm so confident because I know and hear the arguments of the club".

"We only have three weeks to go of the season now so we have to try and keep focused and fit, and mentally and physically in good shape".

However, Guardiola believes his players have struggled for consistency in recent weeks, with a 1-0 Premier League defeat by Southampton on Sunday serving a timely reminder that they can not afford to be complacent at this stage of the season.
