It's been a long time coming since Gossip Girl left our television screens in 2012, but this news of Kristen Bell's return to the Gossip Girl reboot really makes up for lost time.

The original show was about a mysterious blogger who shared scoops on scandals and heartache, all concerning the former students at an exclusive prep school on Manhattan's Upper East Side.

Bell served as the narrator throughout the run of the original series.

"Kristen Bell has always been and will always be the voice of Gossip Girl", the producers said in a statement to the outlet.

In the original show - which was based on the books by Cecily von Ziegesar - Dan Humphrey (played by Penn Badgley) was revealed in the final episode to have been behind the Gossip Girl persona. "The idea of being able to do it on a streamer where we're less restricted was very exciting to us, so we called [executive producer] Josh Safran", creator Josh Schwartz told THR of the reboot.

If you are not living under the rock, then you must be aware that popular teen drama Gossip Girl is getting a reboot version.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that the reboot will take place eight years after the original "website" went dark.

"It's just a new look at this particular society in NY, the idea being that society changes constantly", Safran said about the new series.

Find out when the platform is officially set to launch and how much it will cost subscribers per month. The channel has previously said that the world of Gossip Girl has "evolved" with the social media boom, and the new installment will explore how social media has changed the landscape for teens today.
