Naya Rivera's Disappearance May Have Been The Result Of A Tragic Accident

Naya Rivera Son says he watched his mother disappear beneath water of Lake Piru | Ents & Arts News

According to Ventura County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Kevin Donoghue during Thursday's press conference, "If the body's entangled in some way, it may not come back up".

Glee actress Naya Rivera was reported missing this week after her 4-year-old son, Josey Dorsey, was found alone on a pontoon boat they had rented to go swimming in Lake Piru in Ventura County, California.

Sgt Donoghue said: "Our first day was a rescue effort, it was a life saving effort".

A three-pronged search - dive, ground and aerial - operation began Wednesday evening and lasted until around 10 p.m. local time when it became unsafe to continue. We were looking not just for her physically, we were looking for any clues, any evidence that suggested she made it to shore.

"We don't know if she's gonna be found five minutes from now or five days from now so we're still going to be continuing this effort", Buschow said.

CCTV in the pier reveals her rented vessel leaving at approximately 1pm and it was afterwards discovered drifting from the northern region of the lake in approximately 4pm.

"He observed his mother disappear beneath the water so we are very confident she is in the water and that at some point in time we will recover her from the lake".

Rivera, famous for playing with a high school cheerleader on musical-comedy show Glee, is likely to have drowned at Lake Piru - a favorite place for sailors around 56 km northwest of central Los Angeles.

"The search resumed Thursday morning with divers experiencing less than one foot of visibility in the water in daylight". The most conclusive piece of proof we are definitely keeping on to proper now is the statements from her son, the only witness.

"To say definitively what actually happened, we really can't say". Deputy Chris Dyer added that there were "no signs of foul play", and they believe this was a "tragic accident".

"Unfortunately, they did not locate Naya Rivera".

"There is a flow to this lake", Buschow said.

"The entire shoreline and surface of the lake were thoroughly searched".

The actress earned significant success starring in Glee and the California-born star followed it up with her feature film debut in 2014 horror film At The Devil's Door. Her other credits include things like "Devious Maids", "The Bernie Mac Show" and "American Dad" between several other individuals.
