While Kane, who scored 18 league goals in the 2019-20 campaign, has recovered and will lead the attack at home to Everton on Sunday, Mourinho says he is in urgent need of a backup option.

Harry Kane is one of the best strikers in the world and is a proven goalscorer, but Tottenham simply can not rely only on him.

"I want, I need a striker", Mourinho said.

"We are the same so we are not the kind of club that can go to the market and spend a fortune on players". I honestly believe so.

"You still need talent and team spirit and all the usual things, but sometimes that's not enough". Former England goalkeeper Joe Hart also joined on a free transfer. "We have to look ahead, we have to rebuild our confidence and we are making some progress".

"We have only had four weeks' preparation, and there are far too many games to play, but it is the same for everyone. So yes we're working on it", he said.

Mourinho said left back Danny Rose could move to Serie A. "But we all, we all, I want to make that clear, are working hard to give good balance to the squad and that good balance would be to get another striker".

"We should not forget it was not easy for him either, arriving in the middle of the season, but now it's a new season and important to make a good start".

"We had some good moments in the first half and created some good chances, Doherty's chance is a big one and a sequence of a great moment of football, but Pickford was there and made a great save", he added.

"When I look at the games we played after the restart there were some good signals".

Mourinho was a little happier with what he saw before the interval, although it was clear that Spurs lack conviction and looked worryingly jaded: "In the first half, we were the team that created the best two chances and two really lovely situations with Kane and Doherty and Son and Dele Alli". We hope that we have succeeded by giving you the full details and information.
