Microsoft is Buying Bethesda. What Now?

While Hryb primarily asked his panel of guests about the blockbuster deal where Xbox acquired all of ZeniMax Media - which includes Bethesda and studios like Arkane - Hryb did have a surprise question about the upcoming Starfield for Todd Howard. "We will always look to grow inorganically where it makes sense", Nadella. This will bring major franchises - including Doom, Fallout, The Elder Scrolls, and more - into Microsoft's hands.

Throughout the last generation of consoles, rumors surrounded Microsoft's Xbox division.

In recent years, Microsoft has not been shy about splashing its cash as it has acquired numerous companies.

Aside from that, the Redmond-based architect of Microsoft Azure had also told on Monday that the American software industry behemoth, whose Xbox Game pass claims to have over 15 million subscribers, had been purchasing the video game developer in a bid to flesh up its Xbox Game Pass subscription service.

In an interview with CNET, the big M's chief exec Satya Nadella explained that "The idea of having content is so we can reach larger communities". In August, the studio announced that the game will also arrive on the PS5 and Xbox Series X. Of all the major platform holders, Microsoft has historically been the most open to its games appearing outside of Xbox, whether that be PC, Nintendo or even PlayStation with Minecraft.

Microsoft and Xbox's strategy has changed in recent years, and the current focus on Xbox Game Pass subscriptions means it's far less reliant on console sales than it once was, especially when they can sell Game Pass to non-Xbox owners on PC and now even Android phones.

However, if you own The Elder Scrolls: Online player, then you need to know that the game will be supported just the way it was, and it is expected to keep growing on every platform that is now supported.
