Mary Kay Letourneau, Teacher Convicted of Raping Her Student, Dies at 58


Letourneau was 58 years old, attorney David Gehrke, who represented her in the case, told the TV station.

After six months in jail, Letourneau was granted parole on the condition she did not see Fualaau, who was just 18 months older than her eldest son. It then came out that she had repeatedly raped Fualaau and was now pregnant. Her two daughters with Mr Fualaau were initially raised by his family. She was 34, and he was either 12 or 13.

She was then sent back to jail after violating her condition, and ordered to serve out the balance of her sentence. Steve got custody of their kids, two of whom ended up attending their mom's 2005 wedding to Vili. Their relationship became sexual in the summer of 1996, after he was one of her sixth grade students at Shorewood Elementary School in Burien, WA.

A source close to Letourneau tells PEOPLE that her health began to deteriorate dramatically in recent months.

However, shortly after being released from jail, she was found in a auto having sex with Fualaau.
