A tantalising clash with promoted Leeds United comes on December 19 and then the first showdown with Liverpool is at Anfield on January 16.

City and United were eliminated from the Champions League and Europa League respectively last weekend, three weeks after the end of the Premier League season.

Leeds - a three-time English champion - was one of the country's top teams in the 1960s and 70s, won the English league title in 1992, and reached the Champions League semifinals in 2001.

City and Liverpool are scheduled to meet on the weekends of November 7 at the Etihad and February 6 at Anfield.

In the other first round of fixtures, Arsenal take on Fulham in a London derby while Chelsea travel to Brighton. Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta will now be expected to get all the three points as their first game will be against a favourable side even though they will be away from home.

The season is starting about a month later than normal because of the late finish to the last one as a outcome of the coronavirus outbreak.

A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have given their thoughts on Twitter after Spurs published the club's Premier League 2020-21 fixtures on Thursday morning. The first four rounds of the Carabao Cup, for example, account for the first four midweek slots of the campaign. Do we completely ignore players from the Manchester clubs?
