Man City won't shy away from Barca test

Luis Suarez, Leo Messi, and Neymar are all world-class players who can score a number of ways. Ivan Rakitic and Arda Turan bring skill to the team in midfield, while Andres Iniesta brings experience and leadership.

"It happened last year with Bayern Munich, and it happened this year, and if I continue coaching at the high level, at the big clubs, and we are lucky to arrive in the Champions League, that is going to happen more times".

His 2008-2012 vintage side that won 14 trophies and even more hearts for their mix of intense pressing and penetrating passing are widely regarded as the best Barcelona team of all-time.

He also insisted he did not make calls to Messi, Neymar or Luis Suarez in an attempt to sign them.

I watched Man City at the weekend and they did play very well against an Everton team who sat in but while they missed a couple of penalties they didn't create that many chances.

"I only have complimentary words for him".

"For me, Messi's the best player in the world, easily".

"The first thing is I think Pep knows very well the Barcelona players", he told a pre-match news conference.

Guardiola admits there can be no special plan to counter Barca's weapons.

Although Barca still play the fluid football of the Guardiola era, Pique believes the team has moved on - after all they won the Champions League again in 2015 and are the reigning Spanish title-holders.

Man City got off to a great start under Guardiola, winning 10 straight, but it's enduring a three-game winless streak that has added some pressure on the newly signed coach. I just hope the match doesn't disappoint because there are going to be lots of true world-class players in action.

And Stones, City's confident central defender, is calm and composed at the thought of playing at the Nou Camp, and facing the world's best player, for the first time in his career.

Pique was part of the Barca side which Guardiola managed for four years and he remains grateful for the legacy the Catalan coach left behind.

The club's surge in revenues has only accelerated in the ensuing four years, posting a record 679 million euros for last season, the biggest in Spain.

"I can not deny that it is something special for me", Guardiola said. There was a before and after and we understand football in a different way since he was here. "He gave me the opportunity to come here and gave me everything".

"Pep made a mark on all of us that were with him, there was a before and after".
