Maharashtra: 6,368 fresh Covid-19 cases in state, 167 deaths

The gap between recoveries and active cases of COVID-19 has crossed 1,00,000, the Union health ministry said on Sunday as coronavirus cases in India mounted to 5,28,859 and the death toll rose to 16,095. A total of 3,09,712 persons has recovered and been discharged from hospitals.
THE STATE recorded 6,368 positive cases of Covid-19, taking the total to 1,59,133 on Saturday.
Of the total 16,095 deaths reported so far, Maharashtra tops the tally with 7,273 deaths, followed by Delhi with 2,558 deaths, Gujarat with 1,789, Tamil Nadu with 1,025, Uttar Pradesh with 649, West Bengal with 629, Madhya Pradesh with 550, Rajasthan with 391 and Telangana with 243 deaths. A total of 15,685 people have died from the disease there, including 385 in the 24 hours since the previous update. The state has reported 167 COVID-19 related deaths. The pandemic may peak in some parts of India within weeks, with projections saying it may surpass the one-million-cases benchmark before the end of next month. 2,108 people have recovered, and there have been 23 deaths. 796 new cases were reported on June 27.
Puducherry has recorded 619 COVID-19 cases, Chandigarh has 428, Nagaland has 387 and Arunachal Pradesh 177 and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu together have also reported 177 COVID-19 cases.
Arkansas on Saturday reported 570 more cases of the coronavirus and 10 more deaths. That number has increased steadily, day-by-day since June 22, when 14,821 new cases were logged.
Amid rising number of cases, the Karnataka government has enforced full lockdown every Sunday from July 5.
India continued to be the fourth worst hit among 213 countries, with 2,03,051 active cases and 16,095 deaths.
