Lucha Underground Officially Announces Hernandez Release Due To TNA Situation
Sep 28 2015
Since leaving WWE, he has feuded with Mysteziz in AAA and was also in the ring when Perro Aguayo Jr. tragically passed away. You may remember that Hernandez was the center of controversy when he showed up on Impact while still under a contact to Lucha Underground.
Hernandez had apparently left Lucha Underground and signed with TNA this past June, only for it to come out that Hernandez was still under contract to Lucha Underground. He is going to be used as the top star in the company during the season.
-Lucha Underground sent out the following today, announcing that they have officially released Shawn Hernandez. The series airs on El Rey Network and is distributed internationally by United Artists Media Group.
The second season of Lucha Underground that premieres in early 2016 will be taped once again from The Temple in Boyle Heights, California.
Tapings are expected to begin in December some time with pre-production probably starting in November.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter notes that the budget for each Lucha Underground episode will be decreased from last season's $400,000 per episode but the changes made due to the budget cut won't be noticeable. There had been some talk of filming from Texas or Mexico. It was also said that they will not be taping as many episodes for this season as they did for the first season, which had 39.
