Los Angeles Clippers Set to Hire Tyronn Lue as Next Head Coach

Shams Charania of The Athletic added that Detroit Pistons legend Chauncey Billups is expected to be one of Lue's lead assistants. Not to mention, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Lue already has strong support from some of the team's key players.

Lue, 43, was the lead assistant on Doc Rivers' staff this past season.

Soon after being upset by the Denver Nuggets in the second round of the National Basketball Association playoffs, the Los Angeles Clippers made a decision to part ways with their longtime head coach, Doc Rivers.

The Clippers were viewed as massive disappointments in the National Basketball Association playoffs due to the collapse against the Nuggets.

The Clippers were forecasted to contend for the National Basketball Association title after landing All-Star forwards Kawhi Leonard and Paul George in the summer of 2019. Rivers was given a team that should have competed for a title, although they ended up falling short as the team had barely any chemistry and seemed to be eager to leave the Orlando NBA bubble.

Rivers was hired by the Philadelphia 76ers five days after being fired by the Clippers.

In addition to winning the 2016 NBA Finals, Lue reaching the NBA Finals in three straight years with the Cavaliers.

Lue owns a 128-83 record as an National Basketball Association head coach. He won two championships as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers in 2000 and 2001.
