That short description is followed by a recruitment pitch, so I wouldn't expect this new spy game anytime soon.
IO Interactive's next game, Hitman 3, will be out in 2021, and there's no word yet on when Project 007 might be released.
James Bond is now coming to a computer and gaming console with an all-new origin story about the superspy. As players take control of Bond, it will be up to them to earn the iconic numeric moniker that Bond would become famous for. Working in collaboration with 007 custodians MGM, EON Productions, and Delphi, the game is now in development under the working title "Project 007". Correct us if we're wrong, but wasn't "Casino Royale" essentially an origin story? The game is now in active development for "modern systems and platforms". The locations are recruiting talent from different parts of the world to build the title.
Little more in the way of details are known at this point, but the game is now referred to under a working title of 'Project 007' and will clearly delve into the origin story of the world's most famous secret agent. "IO Interactive are masters of crafting living, breathing worlds of immersive storytelling".
Meanwhile, the 25th James Bond movie, No Time to Die, is now scheduled to open in theaters on April 2, 2021. It's not clear exactly what kind of game Project 007 will be, but given IO's history with stealth and espionage games, the studio's Hitman model seems like a potentially close fit.
