In conversation with Bloomberg, Grimes revealed that she initially planned to sell the legal rights to her soul for just $10 million Dollars, but as time went on, she decided instead to offer it up to the highest bidder. "I made art 10, 12 years before I ever touched a keyboard", she revealed in an interview with "I see myself as a visual artist first and foremost, and I've always felt odd that people know me for music". After enlisting her lawyer to draft a contract for the sale, "the deeper we got with it, the more philosophically interesting it became", she says.
Ultimately, she settled on a price of "best offer", leaving it up to the public to decide her worth.
Grimes initially valued the percentage of her soul up for auction for United States dollars $10 million, but has since lowered the asking price to next best offer.
What's the price of a soul? "The idea of fantastical art in the form of legal documents just seems very intriguing to me", she said.
In addition to the legal ownership of her soul, fans can also purchase physical works of art, with prints (in editions of 30) for $500, ink-on-paper drawings for $2,000-$3,000 or digital avatar prints for between $5,000 and $15,000 (depending on the size).
That means Grimes' soul could be yours - if you want it.
Grimes has a lot on her plate right now - she and her billionaire boyfriend Elon Musk recently welcomed their uniquely named son into the world - but that's not stopping her from putting together an online art show.
