This issue is also affecting enterprise customers of Google who are GSuite. Google is yet to release an official statement on the same.
On its G Suite status dashboard, Google has confirmed issues with Google Docs, Google Drive, and Google Meet. At that time number of users, especially the ones using Airtel mobile or broadband service were unable to access the services and send emails, download apps, and more.
"Gmail mail sending services are down from past 15 mins @GoogleCloud_IN @Google can't send any mails or attach any documents.#gmaildown #gmail", a user said on Twitter.
Down Detector, a service that reports issues with such online platforms has received over 2,000 reports of issues with Gmail.
It is worth noting that Gmail may still be causing errors to some users. However, Google did not offer any disclosure on why might the outage have happened. At the centre of this is Facebook's tools, which have faced frequent outages in the recent past. It then appears to take a long time to send, until ultimately a message pops up saying that the user needs to check their network, as per Engadget. It's the same thing many others are experiencing, but at least it's working a little.
Other Google Suite products now misfiring include Google Photos and Google Drive. It is possible that the issues did not affect all users of Gmail and Google Drive, or may be in process of being restored at the moment.
"Our team is continuing to investigate this issue". Google also says that by 1.30 pm IST, it will share further details about the issue.
