Godzilla Vs Kong: Warner Bros To Release The Monster Film Early
Jan 17 2021
This release date shift - only the latest for Godzilla vs. Kong, which was first announced in 2015 - comes after Warner Bros. pushed the upcoming Sopranos prequel film The Many Saints of Newark from March to September 24.
As per the report, Godzilla vs Kong is the fourth film in the MonsterVerse franchise that started with the 2019 film Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
That being said, I am happy that we now don't have that much longer to wait to see Godzilla vs Kong, even if I am disappointed that I won't be able to see this epic on a big screen that it was surely meant to be seen on. Even though Legendary financed 75 per cent of the film, Warner Bros controls its release. While the film was subjected to numerous delays and was originally supposed to come out in May 2020, before being moved to an earlier date, reportedScreenrant. The upcoming film is directed by Adam Wingard and penned by both Eric Pearson and Max Borenstein.
Warner Bros. bumped up the release date of Godzilla vs. Kong to March 26, two months earlier than its previously scheduled May date. The last movie, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, didn't do so hot stateside with $110.5M, but it fared better overseas with $276.1M for a total of $386.6M. It will also see returning star Millie Bobbie Brown joined by co-stars Alexander Skarsgård and Rebecca Hall. Will this film release theatrical and HBO Max day-and-date is yet being discussed.
Legendary notably took issue with Waner Bros.'s announcement of moving their 2021 slate to HBO Max because of their financing of Godzilla vs. Kong and Dune.
Kong would see the two legendary characters collide in the film.
Godzilla vs. Kong, meanwhile, has been anticipated for a good while at this point, having been announced way back in October 2015 and beginning filming in 2018.
