Donson, who advises white-collar criminals on what to expect in prison, said the lockup on the Brooklyn waterfront is akin to the federal prison system's version of a high-rise apartment building - highly secure, with elevators to move inmates from floor-to-floor, air-conditioned cells and limited room for recreation or other activities.
A grand jury indictment from Southern District prosecutors, which includes Manhattan, accuses Maxwell of enticing minors to travel to engage in sexual acts, transportation of a minor with intent to engage in sexual acts, and perjury.
In a letter to a judge Sunday, prosecutors said they have communicated with Maxwell's defense lawyer, Christian Everdell, who would like a Friday bail hearing after written arguments are submitted by both sides Thursday and Friday.
Prosecutors allege that Maxwell helped Epstein groom girls as young as 14 between 1994 and 1997. It also said she participated in the sexual abuse.
Maria Farmer explained just how strikingly young the girls allegedly recruited by Maxwell for Epstein would be during an interview with Australian TV show 60 Minutes. She could decide to speak to them at any time.
[FBI Assistant Director-in-Charge of New York William F. Sweeney Jr. saying]: "We learned she had slithered away to a gorgeous property in New Hampshire, continuing to live a life of privilege while her victims live with the trauma inflicted upon them years ago".
Epstein was awaiting trial on federal charges of trafficking minors between 2002 and 2005 when he was found hanging by his neck in a different federal jail in New York City in August. He had pleaded not guilty.
Ghislaine Maxwell, who is allegedly linked to paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, has been transferred to a NY prison which has been branded as a "hell hole" by a former warden.
Ghislaine Maxwell is a British socialite and confidante of the late disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein.
"They really liked each other, they really trusted each other", Ms Goldman said of the close relationship between the Prince and Maxwell.
Christian Everdell, a NY lawyer for Maxwell, did not respond to a request for comment.
Maxwell's life with Epstein was one of private jets, Caribbean islands and partying with luminaries including Prince Andrew of the United Kingdom.
Prosecutors have said that due to Maxwell's wealth, worldwide connections and possession of three passports, she "poses an extreme risk of flight".
A federal indictment has accused Maxwell of grooming underaged female victims to have sex with Jeffrey Epstein and his clients.
Epstein's friends have included British royalty, U.S. presidents, Hollywood celebrities, and stars of academia.
Maxwell faces up to 35 years in prison.
The women who say they were abused by Epstein are poised to collect money from his estate if they file claims with the Epstein Victim's Compensation Program.
Ms Goldman also tried to explain why Ms Maxwell went into hiding after Epstein died and did not go straight to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
"She knew she was in trouble", she said of her friend.
