Spencer First-Look Filming Begins on Kristen Stewart's Princess Diana Film

A wave of euphoria was unleashed after the first look of Kristen Stewart's character of the late royal was unveiled for the upcoming film, Spencer. Peaky Blinder creator Steven Knight has penned the script, and Claire Mathon, who worked on Portrait of A Lady on Fire, is the Director of Photography.

Stewart, 30, received criticism when she was first cast in the role, and expressed nervousness and excitement about taking on such an iconic part, telling Instyle: "We don't start shooting until mid-January".

Emma Corrin recently took a turn at playing Diana Spencer in season 4 of 'The Crown'. Check out the first look at Stewart's version, complete with that flawless side-eye, below.

With a lot of excitement around the project, Larrain, the Chilean director who shot to fame when he was nominated for the Academy Award for his two past films No and Jackie, is expected to begin production on the new picture in early 2021. Though rumours of affairs and a divorce abound, peace is ordained for the Christmas festivities at Sandringham Estate. "Plenty of British actresses who would have been better for this role, Princess Diana was classy, Kristen is not".

It was also confirmed today that Stewart will be joined on-screen in Spencer by a collection of enormous stars, including Sally Hawkins, and Sean Harris. Diana knows the game.

In the early hours of 31 August 1997, Diana, Princess of Wales died in hospital after being injured in a auto crash in a road tunnel in Paris.

The photo of Kristen as Diana has heightened the excitement for a preview of the film, as well as its release.

The Great Gatsby is apparently getting a TV adaptation, and while I'm incredibly excited about the promised inclusivity in terms of diversity and LGBTQ+ representation, I also wish we could let this story die and find another.

As far as looks go, Kristen Stewart, make-up artists and costume designers have absolutely nailed it. Shooting is taking place in Germany and the United Kingdom, and the film is eying a fall 2021 release ahead of 2022, which will mark the 25th anniversary of Diana's death.
