Dodgers dominate Rays in Game 3, grab 2-1 lead

That Tampa Bay made it this far without any production from Lowe was incredible. Given what the Dodgers were able to do against the usually great Rays bullpen in Game 1, that could be a problem.

Game Three of the World Series is tonight.

Lowe hit.269, posted a.916 OPS and a 152 OPS+, and totaled 14 home runs and 37 RBIs across 56 regular season games. The young guys, especially, on this team should be trying to get to.

This one wasn't winner-take-all, and Morton was rather ordinary in an otherwise extraordinary postseason career for an understated, and largely unknown, pitcher who overcame Tommy John elbow surgery and two hip operations to turn a 46-71 record through his first nine big league seasons into a 47-18 mark since.

Tampa Bay is the home team for Games 3 through 5 after starting as the visitor.

Lowe and Joey Wendle each drove in three runs for the Rays. Gonsolin was lifted in the second after recording four outs.

Barry Bonds had a.196 batting average and just one home run in his first 27 playoff games.

Morton did not figure in the decision in the Dodgers' 6-2 victory in Game 4 of the 2017 World Series, when he limited them to one run and three hits in 6 1/3 innings. Nick Anderson was an unthinkable 780 after giving up just one earned run in 161/3 regular-season innings.

If the Rays can get him going, along with the production Randy Arozarena has provided, they have to feel good about the direction the offense is going.

An outfielder who attended Tulane on a baseball scholarship, Friedman graduated with a bachelor's degree in management with a concentration in finance and went to work with Bear Stearns Cos. After Corey Seager also walked, he and Betts pulled off a double steal. Aside from two monstrous home runs in his postseason career - and that's a big aside because those can't be discounted - Bellinger has somewhat small in the postseason.

"We think what we're doing is maximizing our roster the best we can", manager Kevin Cash said.

"Oh man, I hit the first (home run) and it was like a weight came off my shoulders", Lowe said on MLB Network.

"They ask you to do something, you need to do it", said Barnes.

Anderson got out of the jam with a strikeout of Justin Turner. The Dodgers recorded a record 11-run first before he threw his first pitch.

Clayton Kershaw, Cody Bellinger, Mookie Betts and the Los Angeles Dodgers left the Tampa Bay Rays stuck in neutral to start a most unusual World Series played amid the pandemic. Lowe led the Rays in almost every major statistical offensive category this year, including batting average (.269), home runs (14), RBII (37), OBP (.362) and total hits (52). Turner only has four RBI's in the playoffs and is 2 for 8 in this series.

The Tampa Bay Rays have 2018 AL Cy Young Award victor Blake Snell lined up to start Wednesday.

There's no debating that Kershaw has been a significantly worse pitcher in the postseason.

This story originally appeared in Los Angeles Times.

Buehler had struggled with his command early in the postseason, but in his last start against the Braves, he walked no batters in six innings.

Will Smith homered off Anderson in the sixth.

Snell did not give up a hit until the fifth when the Dodgers' Chris Taylor hit a home run.

"Since then, every time I get to second he says hi to me, he talks to me and he treats me like he knew me his whole life", Adames said Thursday.

The Dodgers added a pair of runs in the fourth when Cody Bellinger led off with a single and reached third on Joc Pederson's single to right field.
