City have 'definitely not' been offered Pogba again, insists Guardiola

Bernardo Silva welcomes pressure of title race as Manchester derby looms

The 24-year-old told Sky Sports: "We knew after that game two nights ago against Tottenham, we wanted to give a response, especially with our fans".

Manchester City bounced back from a crushing away goals defeat to Tottenham on Wednesday with a 1-0 win in the third meeting between the two sides in the past 11 days.

Silva, however, felt that his teammate Foden was much more deserving of the award following his winning goal.

When it came on Saturday against Tottenham - completing a trilogy of matches against the north London club since April 9 - Foden scored his first Premier League goal on only his second start.

He became the first player born in the 2000s to score a Premier League goal for the club.

The teenager impressed Guardiola, who said he never had a young player as good as Foden when he was in charge of Barcelona. The attacking prodigy was only making his second start this season and while he may not have been as influential as Bernardo Silva or David Silva, Foden's willingness to run at defenders coupled with his positioning inside the box made life hard for the Tottenham defenders.

If City recover from this huge setback and go on to beat Spurs on Saturday, it can place a huge pressure on Liverpool to get a result against a team fighting against relegation.

"Obviously, any game I'm going to play I'm going to be excited", Foden added. "Now it's about trying to be strong and recovering the energy".

That signalled in an anxious conclusion for Manchester City, with Ederson forced to thwart Moura, but the champions dug deep to claim a crucial win.

Brighton frustrated Wolverhampton Wanderers in a 0-0 draw to gain a key point in its scrap with Cardiff to avoid relegation. But the players Manchester City have had in the last decade have made this game a little bit more equal.

After starting with five successive losses, Scott Parker has a second victory as caretaker manager of already relegated Fulham.

Son, in particular, missed a golden opportunity in the first half, when he was too late to take a shot - a chance which may have been converted by Kane.

Michail Antonio put West Ham ahead, then Jamie Vardy equalised before Lucas Perez restored the hosts' lead in the 82nd minute.
