Black Adam: DC Revealed The First Look Of Dwayne Johnson Film

With the creation of the DCEU though things finally picked up steam with a movie focusing on Shazam, Black Adam's heroic rival, becoming a huge hit. But previous drawings were fanart that depicted a more traditional, comic-accurate look for Dwayne Johnson as Black Adam.

As we get hyped up for the DC FanDome happening this weekend, one major movie announcement fans are super excited about is the upcoming Black Adam starring Dwayne Johnson a.k.a.

This isn't the first time the actor has teased images of himself as Black Adam. And as Johnson subsequently revealed, Atom Smasher is just the first as the rest of the movie will introduce more of the JSA in the forms of Hawkeye, Doctor Fate, and Cyclone and it looks like they will be Black Adam's main competition in the movie. His original depiction was that of a corrupted Egyptian predecessor of Captain Marvel, however, publications throughout the 21st century have shifted Adam towards more of an antihero character that is attempting to clear his name of past wrongdoings.

"The hierarchy of energy within the DC UNIVERSE is about to vary", he wrote. Johnson posted the image on Instagram ahead of the FanDome panel.

Black Adam is going to release in December 2021, and the filming is going to wrap up this year only, but due to the ongoing health crisis Covid-19 pandemic, the release of the movie is expected to be delayed.

"I'm honored to join the iconic #DCUniverse and it's a true pleasure to become Black Adam", he wrote.

"The DC comic's superhero character is blessed by magic with powers equal to Superman".

Helming the project will be Jaume Collet-Serr who previously worked with Johnson on Disney's Jungle Cruise. As a child, Superman was the hero I always preferred to be.

Adding that the role "is unlike any other I've ever played in my career", the star continued, "I'm grateful to the bone we'll all go on this journey together".
