A deliveryman for a Chinese restaurant is in critical condition after a tree that was being cut down by New York City workers fell on him. The victim was in the middle of a delivery from the popular local restaurant, Ling Gee.

"(The tree) hit him directly on the head", recounted a man who works at the nearby Red Hook West Houses and did not want to be identified.

The deliveryman was riding a bicycle with bags of food when the tree landed on him in the Red Hook section of Brooklyn on Monday. "It was a horrible scene, I couldn't believe what I just saw". The victim is presently hospitalized in critical condition.

"The guy with the flag was waving for him to stop but it was too late", the witness said.

We've reached out to the Parks Department for comment, and will update this story when we receive a response.
