Authorities find 2 abducted girls after 2 boys are killed

Kansas Amber Alert: 2 girls abducted in Leavenworth, boys found dead

A Kansas Amber Alert has been issued for 7-year-old Nora Jackson and 3-year-old Aven Jackson after they were taken from a home in Leavenworth where two boys were found dead, officials say.

The Jackson girls have been recovered and the suspect detained, according to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.

"Tara is now faced with the overwhelming task of paying for a funeral for her two sons", the fundraising page said of the boys' mother, Tara Jackson.

At 5:05p.m., the Arkansas State Police agreed to launch an Arkansas AMBER Alert to assist in the recovery of the abducted children, due to the proximal sighting at the OK / KS border.

Logan and Austin, photographed last month in Kansas, were reportedly found dead on Saturday.

Officers were called to the residence around 1:16 pm Saturday afternoon where they found two deceased juvenile males inside and discovered that the girls were missing.

Nora (right, seven) and three-year-old Aven were rescued from their father's vehicle on Saturday.

One of the children was supposed to be at a soccer game Saturday, but didn't show, police said.

Authorities believed the girls, three-year-old Aven and seven-year-old Nora, were abducted by their father, Donny Jackson, and an AMBER Alert was issued. Deputies were called to the home after someone made a 911 call upon discovering the homicide scene. Leavenworth County Emergency Management said in a Facebook post that Jackson also is a person of interest in the homicides.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation confirmed in a later statement the two girls had been found safe.

"The suspect's vehicle was located by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol around mile marker 6 near Erick, Oklahoma".

Jackson, 40, "had dealings" with law enforcement in the past, Leavenworth County Undersheriff Jim Sherley told the Star, though he wouldn't elaborate.
