Atlanta gets even as Foltynewicz holds Cardinals spellbound

The Braves pulled off the unlikely comeback in front of a stunned crowd at Busch Stadium.
The Braves struggled to generate any offense throughout the game, managing only four hits off Cardinals starting pitcher Adam Wainwright and reliever Andrew Miller before exploding against closerCarlos Martinez.
"No offence but I always tell these guys that old players mean good players", said Wainwright, who pitched 7.2 innings of shutout ball for one of the biggest efforts of his career. "He made one mistake".
Atlanta Braves left-hander Dallas Keuchel will start Game 4 of the NL Division Series on short rest. Postseason ERA reads 3.03, but shrinks to 1.72 at Busch.
Wainwright certainly didn't show his age on Sunday, however, hitting a pitch count of 120 before exiting in the eighth inning with the bases loaded. This last Sunday, Flaherty took the ball in a game the Cardinals nearly had to win and threw 7.0 innings allowing just three total base runners and leading the Cardinals to an NL Central title.
"He's all in and is available to do that, if we decide", Snitker said. "Let's hope one moment doesn't define the season because I'd like to see him get another chance". Matt Carpenter was responsible for the lone score of the game for the Cardinals as he contributed an RBI. Paul Goldschmidt lofted a sacrifice fly ball to right-center field. Every time the Braves charged a baseball deep into the outfield, it held up in the wind and landed in a glove shy of the warning track. Yadier Molina would get Ozuna to third. Wainwright's game should not be forgotten, which it likely will be, because of how special he was today.
In the age of bullpens taking over in October, Wainwright and Mike Soroka locked up in an old-fashioned pitchers' duel. And for the Cardinals, the inning turned - within the mistaken path - on the two-out intentional stroll to McCann, which got here simply after Shildt made a visit to the mound to debate the choices. Ozuna was the only hitter to reach against him, doing so again in the sixth with a two-out single.
Braves starter Mike Soroka gave up one earned run and two hits across seven innings.
The Braves waited until Monday to announce their Game 4 starter. Even in dropping Sport 1, they presaged Sunday's rally in opposition to Martinez by battering the Cardinals' nearer for 3 runs within the ninth, on homers by Acuña and Freeman, to carry the tying run to the plate after having trailed at one level by 4 runs. Well, that is just what the AtlantaBraves will try to do as they are one win away from a trip to the NLCS.
