Midway through the stream they were joined by another familiar face: the gamer Harry Brewis, aka Hbomberguy, whose Donkey Kong livestream raised more than $340,000 for the trans charity Mermaids past year.

"Among Us" is a multiplayer murder-mystery game from indie developers InnerSloth similar to "Clue", only with a space-themed twist, pitting up to 10 players against each other in a race to be the last one standing.

On Monday, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio Cortez posted a tweet asking if anyone would want to join her in a Get Out the Vote Twitch stream of Among Us.

Because of the popularity of the stream, Ocasio-Cortez's Twitch channel now has more than 584,000 followers.

"With so many politicians embracing livestreaming, it has become the latest medium of choice to connect with younger audiences".

While some netizens went on to express their opinions about the stream itself, one person pointed out how Ocasio-Cortez's Wikipedia page apparently had "Twitch streamer" added to the congresswoman's list of occupations. "Make your plan and stick to it. Thank you everyone so much for playing, and let's all participate in this election and save our democracy". For Crewmates, the goal is to identify the Imposters, eliminate them, and complete tasks around the map.

"First things first, if you are able to vote, we are here - IWillVote.com". There were a couple of jabs and a discussion on the British health system and how it compares to the American one, but for the most part, the video game stream was, well, a video game stream. She also used the game's slang, such as "sus" and "marinate", easily. After the stream, popular streamer Rachell "Valkyrae" Hofstetter shared that she also earned a record high viewership while playing with AOC.

Considering the number of people joining AOC's streaming [440,000 from her account] is great news. "This election is my first time voting and its super easy to do so do it".

Cortez was joined by Omar and YouTubers like Pokimane, Hasanabi and Jack Septic for the game Wednesday, which was live-streamed on Twitch - a streaming platform primarily used by gamers. Both President Donald Trump and Sen. Previously, Senator Bernie Sanders created an account to stream campaign events and now has over 159,000 followers. "We do not make exceptions for political or newsworthy content, and will take action on content reported to us that violates our rules".
