"Check Point's researchers recently discovered a new variant of the Joker Dropper and Premium Dialer spyware in Google Play".

Check Point Research reports that a new version of the Joker mobile malware that infects Android devices has emerged. It appears like Google desires to adjust this, as the iOS Household app has been given an solution to adjust the unit variety manually.

This time, it's back to do the same albeit with a different technique in order to evade Google's security filters.

Android apps disguised as malware have been spotted a couple of times, where unsuspecting users have subscribed to its premium services without realizing its true nature.

Earlier this year, Google published a detailed report on a unsafe Android malware called Joker which the company has been tracking since the year 2017. As reported from this time, it has been found that the new Joker malware is able to install new malware in your phone. We found it hiding in the "essential information" file every Android application is required to have. "We estimate that this includes at least 95 per cent of iPhones now in use and over 85 per cent of Android devices". Commenting on how the efforts by the internet search giant were not enough, he says, "Our latest findings indicate that Google Play Store protections are not enough".

"The malware does not need to access a [command-and-control] server, which is a computer controlled by a cybercriminal used to send commands to systems compromised by malware, to download the payload, the portion of the malware which performs the malicious action", the researchers note. Although malicious applications are removed from Play Store, Check Point warns that there may be other malicious apps on Google Play Store.

Apple App Store downloads climbed to 10 billion, an increase of 20% year-on-year.

According to the report, app downloads from the App Store for the iPhone grew twenty percent year over year to nearly ten billion downloads in the second quarter of 2020 alone.
