Daniel Murphy played the role of hero for the New York Mets Thursday night as they defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 5 of the NLDS. Most of Murphy’s success came with Cy Young candidate Zack Greinke on the mound, and the Wikipedia hackers reacted accordingly.
Murphy, who went 3-for-4 in the game, had an RBI double in the first, scored a run to tie the game in the fourth and delivered a solo home run to break the tie in the sixth. The homer was his third of the series, all of which came off Greinke and Clayton Kershaw.
Greinke actually pitched pretty well, but some mental lapses from the Dodgers in the fourth allowed Murphy to go from first to third on a walk. He later scored on a sacrifice fly. You can see some highlights from Murphy’s incredible night here.
As far as the Wikipedia hack goes, we have seen much worse. If Greinke feels sorry for himself after seeing that, we know an NFL kicker who could tell him it’s not so bad.
