Sheriff David Beth gave a press conference on Sunday morning, and said the department wasn't ruling out the possibility of more than one person involved in the shooting, according to WTMJ-TV.
He said detectives are combing through surveillance video and interviewing witnesses in an attempt to identify the suspect or suspects.
Sheriff Beth noted that he believes there were multiple handguns used in the shooting.
The road leading up to the tavern was closed early on Sunday while officials investigate the incident. Last month, four people were killed at an office shooting in California, eight people were fatally shot at massage businesses in the Atlanta area, and 10 died in gunfire at a supermarket in Boulder, Colo.
