One person is dead and two others are injured following an active shooter incident in Frederick, Tuesday morning.
After receiving the call, police found the two shooting victims, both men, at Riverside Tech Park, a suburban-style sprawling complex of two-story commercial businesses, Lando said.
Within minutes Military Police stationed on-base fatally shot the suspect, when he brandished a rifle. While Navy sailors were involved in the incident, the suspect was killed at the Fort Detrick Army base.
The Navy will continue to provide updates on the situation as more details come in, the U.S. Navy spokesperson told NBC News.
Talley said Woldesenbet drove to the base after the initial shooting at the office park and sped past the gate before he could be searched.
The Navy said on Twitter that the unidentified shooter was a Navy hospital corpsman.
Frederick Mayor Michael O'Connor said the base is a huge economic driver in the region, drawing scientists, military personnel and their families to the community.
The gunman, whom police have not identified, fled to nearby Fort Detrick military base. "But you always know, perhaps in the back of your mind, that that's just luck - that there isn't any reason why it couldn't happen here". The victims were taken to Baltimore Shock Trauma, where they were listed in "critical condition", Lando said. Every time we turn on the TV we're seeing something like this happening.
