Our first decent snow of the season still appears on target for the weekend. Further to the north a sharp cutoff will exist with places around Galena and Dubuque hardly seeing any accumulation at all as the snow fights off dry air. We will also have traffic updates all day, including Rodger Brand and Maria Keena's traffic reports until 9 a.m. today and during Total Information P.M.

For Saturday, snow continues for St. Louis.

In Pettis County, the advisory goes into effect at 3 p.m. Friday until 6 p.m. Saturday.

The forecast for next week calls for mostly sunny skies with highs in the 40s.

Chicago, Detroit and Cleveland will be on the northern edge of the storm. "The models this morning are 2 degrees colder than (Thursday), which will lead to higher amounts of snow and ice than were forecast (then)", CNN meteorologist Chad Myers says. Slick conditions are expected and the visibility will drop within the heavier bands.

Temperatures today will range from the 20s across the southern Poconos, the low to mid 30s through the Lehigh Valley, and the upper 30s to near 40 in the I-95 corridor and points south and east.
