Window cleaners swing violently on out of control lift atop skyscraper

Window washers trapped on swinging lift from building

Video footage captured the high altitude drama unfold as the cradle swung from side to side as well as back and forth.

Around 7:45 a.m. on Wednesday, emergency crews were called to the Devon Tower after learning that two people were trapped on a lift.

The "very risky situation" unfolded around 7:45 a.m. local time.

The cradle was moving so vigorously that it hit part of the building, breaking the glass, Oklahoma's News 4 reported. As a safety precaution, employees and passersby are asked to avoid the area.

Local reports say the two workers were rescued but it remains unclear if either of them were injured.

Paramedics evaluated the men, who both refused treatment.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.

The building, Oklahoma City's tallest, is the corporate headquarters of energy company Devon Energy Corporation.

Two window washers were trapped for almost an hour on a dangling basket at the top of a 50-story skyscraper in Oklahoma.

Macy said firefighters secured the scaffold with ropes as it hung from a crane 20-30 feet (6-9 meters) above the roof.
