Antonio Conte is desperate to strengthen his squad ahead of a Premier League title defence

Manchester United should "break the bank" to sign Arsenal contract rebel Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to replace Ander Herrera, according to Kenny Cunningham.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, like Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, is into the final year of his contract, leaving the player in a really good bargaining position.

"Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has a year left on his contract at Arsenal, they should be breaking the bank to bring that type of player to the club", Cunningham told RTE Sport.

In addition to this is the fact that the 23-year-old has seen game time in the wing back position, which makes him a flawless fit for Conte's charges, who employed a back three liberally last season.

The England worldwide has been linked with both Liverpool and Chelsea this summer, the latter of whom are reportedly prepared to hand over £25m for his signature.

Reigning Premier League champions Chelsea are ready to make an offer for Arsenal star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Liverpool and Chelsea have both shown an interest in the player this summer.

Speaking ahead of Arsenal's first game of the new season against Leicester City, Wenger said of Oxlade-Chamberlain: 'I think in his career he had some bad moments because he had some small injuries. "He's had some small injuries but past year he was much more stable". I personally think he's a hugely talented player and he's on the way up. He will continute to move up beecause the potential is there. He's today very conscious of his qualities as well, something he was not always.
